AVGC-XR is a trade wire for India’s animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended-reality economy — the sector the Government of India calls AVGC-XR. We track policy, studios, deals, education and talent across the five segments, through the day.

Why now. Five Indian states have launched dedicated AVGC-XR policies since 2024, the government has stood up a national centre of excellence for the sector, and global studios are opening India production capacity. Coverage of this activity has been scattered across generic entertainment press, if it exists at all — the policy tracker exists because incentive terms buried in a state government PDF are, in practice, undiscoverable any other way.
How the wire works. Our systems monitor Indian and international trade press, government releases and industry announcements continuously. Every item on the wire is a short, attributed brief: it names the publication that reported the story and links to it. We summarise; the full story — and the credit — belongs to the source. Every brief is checked against known facts and reviewed by an editor before it appears here.
Sources we monitor include PIB (via Google News), AnimationXpress, befores & afters, Animation World Network and Cartoon Brew, alongside targeted search feeds for broader coverage.
