Tamil Nadu AVGC-XR Policy 2026
A five-year state policy aiming to make Tamil Nadu a national hub for animation, VFX, gaming, comics and XR — targeting 200+ startups, 2 lakh jobs and 20% of India's AVGC-XR market by 2030, anchored by a ₹50 crore Centre of Excellence in Chennai with regional spokes in five cities.
Incentives & provisions
- R&D funding
- ₹250 crore allocated for sector R&D.
- Startup grants
- Grants of up to ₹1 crore per startup, including via a Digital Accelerator scheme.
- Existing state fund eligibility
- AVGC-XR startups made eligible for existing Tamil Nadu funding instruments: TANSEED, TANFUND, the SC/ST StartUp Fund, and the iTNT Foundation Fund.
- Large-company incentive packages
- Payroll subsidies, capex support, lease incentives, stamp-duty exemptions and electricity-tariff concessions for companies employing at least 80 people in Chennai or Coimbatore.
- Centre of Excellence
- ₹50 crore Centre of Excellence in Chennai, with regional spokes in five cities.
- Conference attraction fund
- Up to ₹40 crore over five years to attract major AVGC-XR conferences to the state.
