Devgn CineX becomes first Indian cinema to install ButtKicker tactile seating
AnimationXpress reports that Devgn CineX, a luxury multiplex in Thane, Maharashtra, has become the first cinema in India to install ButtKicker tactile seating technology. The system converts low-frequency audio into vibrations felt through specially equipped seats, allowing audiences to physically experience on-screen action. Developed by American electronics manufacturer The Guitammer Company, ButtKicker uses low-frequency transducers that work with existing cinema sound systems without requiring special programming, making it compatible with Hindi, regional and Hollywood releases.
Devgn CineX's five-screen property features 953 seats, including the Amor luxury auditorium with Dolby 7.1 and Dolby Atmos configurations. The technology was showcased during a special screening of Jailer 2. ARK Infosolutions, the authorised ButtKicker distributor in India, handled design, installation and calibration, with SR Seating supplying the seats. ButtKicker is already deployed across more than 45,000 cinema seats in 11 countries. Mark Luden, president of The Guitammer Company, called the installation "a landmark moment for us," signalling plans for further deployments across India as cinemas seek to differentiate the theatrical experience from home streaming.
