IICT hosts Harendra Singh Saini for masterclass on comic craft and visual storytelling
The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies is hosting an online session, Let's Talk Comics!, on 1 November featuring award-winning comic artist and colourist Harendra Singh Saini. AnimationXpress reports that Saini, who recently won the Diamond Award for best comics colourist at the Creators Street AVGC Awards 2025 for Avik Amaira: The Paranormal Files – Nishi, will guide participants through the creative process from concept to finished visual narrative, covering character development, illustration, panel composition, colouring and sequential storytelling alongside insights from Indian comic publishing.
The session highlights IICT's one-year Diploma in Interactive Comics & Sequential Arts, which trains students in visual storytelling, character design and sequential narrative techniques for roles including comic artist, storyboard artist, character designer, and graphic novelist. IICT CEO Vishwas Deoskar noted that "India has a large and growing base of comic readers and creators, but the bigger opportunity lies in building original Indian IP that can travel across formats and markets." The institute, established by the ministry of information and broadcasting with Maharashtra government, Ficci and CII, operates from the NFDC Complex in Mumbai and partners with Netflix, Amazon, Google, YouTube, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta and Adobe. A permanent 10-acre campus is being developed at Film City, Goregaon. Registration for the Sunday session, running 10 am to 12 pm, is available through the IICT website.
