Sachin Tendulkar invests in Hyderabad gaming studio Metasports Interactive
AnimationXpress reports that Sachin Tendulkar has acquired a minority stake in Metasports Interactive, the Hyderabad-based developer behind mobile cricket game Hitwicket. Financial details remain undisclosed. Tendulkar will serve as brand ambassador and appear as a playable character in the game. He cited the game's focus on on-field decision-making—reading a bowler and choosing when to attack—as key to his interest.
Metasports, founded by Kashyap Reddy and Keerti Singh, launched Hitwicket in 2020 and has reached over 20 million players across 120 countries. The company reported revenue doubled in the past six months, with more than half from international markets. This investment follows a US $20 million funding round from London-based platform Metica in April.
Metasports aims for 100 million downloads worldwide within three years. Tendulkar's involvement is expected to boost the game's global profile as the studio pursues international expansion.
