WildBrain and EightyEight Pictures form long-term CG animation partnership
WildBrain, a global family entertainment leader, has entered a long-term strategic partnership with EightyEight Pictures to strengthen premium CG animation production, AnimationXpress reports. The partnership pairs WildBrain and House of Cool's creative leadership and franchise expertise with EightyEight Pictures' production infrastructure and capacity. WildBrain and House of Cool will retain creative oversight and core functions in Canada, whilst EightyEight Pictures provides additional CG execution capacity through shared workflows and integrated pipelines.
EightyEight Pictures, founded by Milind D. Shinde, operates offices in Toronto and London and production studios in Mumbai and Bangalore. The studio has contributed to projects for brands including Trollhunters, Gremlins, Kung Fu Panda and Star Wars: Visions, and is currently working on High in the Clouds and Bahubali: The Eternal War. WildBrain's Vancouver studio plans to relocate to a new 47,000-square-foot facility in Mount Pleasant in January 2027, whilst retaining complete in-house capabilities for both CG and 2D projects.
Chief content officer Stephanie Betts stated the partnership "will create new opportunities across our collective ecosystem" and allows the companies to "expand what's possible for our clients and the stories we bring to audiences around the world." Shinde expressed pride in partnering with WildBrain and House of Cool, emphasizing the relationship would combine "creative excellence with the production scale and technical expertise required for premium CG animation."
